[What follows is some feedback for the crutch - more personal preference stuff that Donnie wouldn't have necessarily picked up via measurements and analysis. Included is the suggestion to use four feet for greater stability, and a much cooler-looking arm cuff design.

Sue him, his current one is super lame-looking. If he has to use a crutch it might as well look sick as hell.]

It's actually...nice? Having someone actually giving him some preferences and feedback in general for what they might expect. After all, Donnie's not the one who's going to be using this thing. But he wants to make it right. And most importantly, he wants to make it awesome.

It might be scary how fast he whips up some "rough" schematics, but before the day is over, he sends over a screenshot of what he has in mind, with the esper's suggestions included. Build notes mention it will have a titanium body.]

[Ohhh, this is really cool. Far beyond what he deserves, of course, but it'll make getting around easier and he won't have to worry about situations where he loses or leaves his current crutch elsewhere. Accelerator isn't expecting to receive schematics so fast, so he's impressed. And kind of excited, though he's trying to keep those feelings tempered.]

At this rate you're really going to piss off my doctor back in Academy City.

[He was the guy who gave him the first crutch, and this one is going to be leagues better.]

That sounds like more of a "them" problem.

I miss anything? Or is there anything else you might've thought of to add?

Well, he does a lot of work that I don't think people notice or appreciate.

[It's an "Accelerator is a terrible patient who should be nicer" problem.]

Anyways, I think everything is covered. Upgrades will be possible down the road, right?

Oh yeah, definitely upgradable. The frame will be light so the real issue would be compacting any extra additions to fit. I mean, I can totally put a laser emitter or something if I had the right components.

Do you mean as a weapon?

...well I guess if you want to downgrade it I can make it a ridiculously huge laser pointer.

Seriously though, why else would I want to stick a laser in a crutch?

I guess it could be a bit overkill though. Limited use too, but it'd be meant for emergency situations. I'll think on it.

An emergency weapon isn't a bad idea.

[Maybe trying to tone down the mad science would be the smart thing, but Accelerator would rather consider its practicality.]

You could install something relatively weak, which would be easier to get ahold of. The vectors of a laser are easy to amplify, I could do that with my ability. I'd have to rely on my choker to weaponize it, though.

Interesting, but that'd defeat the purpose of it being usable for emergencies.

I can show you how to use your crutch as a weapon too, it's more or less just an awkwardly balanced staff, but not impossible to wield.

I've been doing this for years. You won't magically become a pro but you can at least learn some basic maneuvers so you won't just be flailing your crutch around if anything comes up.

He's pretty sure he'd still be bad at those, but there is the little spark of an idea that makes him wonder how effective it'd be up against someone using only their fists.

(He isn't thinking about how he'd do in a fight against that level 0, why would anyone think that.)]

I guess if the thing's going to be made of titanium then there wouldn't be any danger of using it like that and getting it broken. If I was going up against something where that'd be a problem I'd be using my ability anyways.

So long as you're not trying to hold up several tons of concrete with it anyway. But yes, plenty durable for using as defense. Or offense if someone's really asking for it.

The trick really is to keep your own movements to a minimum. It'd be easier to show you, but play your cards right and you won't have to rely on too much force or over-exerting yourself.

You're almost making it sound doable. [With his power not working remotely most of the time, minimal movement was something he got used to in a fight.]

Alright. Worst case scenario we realize quickly that it's a waste of time, so it can't hurt to try.

Well I guess, but at your level, I wouldn't try it.

Of course it's doable. Thinking the opposite won't do you any favors. If you're willing to try, that's a good place to start.

Fuck, I'm being realistic. Should wait a week or two before starting? I'll need the time to get used to the new crutch.

It all depends on you so I'll let you decide when you think you're up for it. Of course you need the new crutch first. I've already started looking for materials to use, so hopefully it won't take too long to get something together.

Though, if it's too much effort to find the materials, you can forget it and focus on something more worthwhile.

Not a problem. I've done this before. I'll be out looking for other things anyway so it's just one more to the list.

Also, I'm reasonably sure Leo was right about my reflection reacting to your ninpō. We should probably do more tests on that sometime, to avoid anymore explosions.

I should have taken something like that into account. But then it's not like we've run into many instances where our ninpō has come into direct contact with some other power.

Agreed though, we should test it out. See if there's a range to it. The last thing we want is to have a bad backlash if we're all in the middle of something.

I've only experienced something similar to this once before, and I still don't know what happened back then.

Right. Yours would be the safest to test with. There's strange phenomena that happens when I reflect esper teleportation, I have no idea what would happen if I reflected one of Leo's portals.

What happens with reflected esper teleportation?

Either way, I wouldn't want to find out what would happen with Leo's ability either, and definitely if we're not making use of it.

[Aside from the fact that Leo's still working on getting his portals back up to usual levels.]

Their eleventh dimensional movement is reflected back onto them. It's not something you want to see.

We can test it any time, though we should find a place that isn't susceptible to explosions. Maybe somewhere without a lot of machinery around.
