Name: Donatello "Donnie" Hamato
Canon: Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Canon Point: End of movie, not long after retrieving Leo from the Prison Dimension
Age: 16

Backstory: Donnie is one of four turtles who were originally intended to be mutated into ultimate warriors for the yōkai Baron Draxum's plans to destroy humankind before they could do the same to the yōkai. The Baron used the DNA of a famous and skilled human fighter by the name of Lou Jitsu, originally a renowned martial arts action film star, however Lou didn't want to see the young mutants be used for such a scheme and managed to free himself and the boys, although at the cost of being exposed to the ooze that had mutated them, finding himself transformed into a humanoid rat.

It's years later that the boys now teenagers discover the yōkai city hidden beneath New York and meet their creator. They also eventually learn of the true identity of their father, as well as his family ties to an ancient ninja clan known as the Hamato. The Hamato were charged with the task of keeping vigilant should anyone attempt to revive a horrible evil: The Shredder. Together with his boys and through the power of the familial bonds of their clan, they manage to vanquish that evil.

It's a couple years later that another threat arises, this in the form of aliens imprisoned long ago, now seeking vengeance upon Earth. Warned by someone from a distressing future of what would come if they didn't manage to stop things now, the boys unfortunately find themselves severely outmatched and overpowered by the Kraang. Too powerful to be defeated, they resort to planning how to once again imprison them in the dimension they'd been banished to in the first place. Though hardly unscathed from the battle, they succeed in saving Earth, watching as New York picks up the pieces to rebuild, a city just as persistent as them.

Personality:
The resident genius of his brothers who knows it all too well, Donnie isn't inclined to let anyone forget it. A nerd and proud of it, Donatello is a lover of science, botany, libraries and gaming, but is not above having fun with his brothers and enjoying the opportunity to dance. While he does care for his family and friends, at times how they act clashes with his ego and how he believes things should be. He has a very specific mindset of how to operate and it often doesn't mesh very well with the lax attitudes of his siblings. He has tried to address this problem with the same approach he takes with technology, attempting to fix things. In such he's learned the hard way that he does in some way appreciate the way his brothers are, as they are, even if they do drive him a little crazy. Still, Donnie has his own brand of recklessness and more than a little penchant for violence.

Donnie is not an extremely touchy-feely person. He can at times be aloof, emotionally detached from things that may otherwise tug at his brothers' heartstrings. This does not mean he is emotionless, but rather he has difficulties identifying feelings, and at times has trouble expressing them genuinely. His personal boundaries are often tested by his family's clinginess, although simultaneously they're the only ones who have free rein to intrude on those boundaries. There's no doubt that he cares deeply about his family, which includes his brothers, his father, and their human friend April, and he would do anything for them. He's come to better respect Raphael, who has also grown more into his role as a leader. In sharing middle-child status with Leonardo, Donnie and Leo tend to flip-flop between rivals and partners in crime. When it comes to his little brother Michelangelo, Donnie's gotten very protective of him and the two seem to have a strange sort of relationship that allows them to work well together, two chaotic forces synced with common goals. As with such relationships, their bonds have been tried and tested time and again, but have always proven to come out strong. Needless to say, if anything happens to or gets between him and his family, there is probably nothing Donnie wouldn't do in order to save them and preserve those precious to him.

His family is his strength as much as a crutch. For as long as he can remember, they've always been together, and perhaps foolishly he's convinced himself that that will always be a constant. It wasn't until they encountered the Kraang that this was proved otherwise, first in nearly losing their eldest to become a minion of the pink brain aliens, and then in almost losing Leo when his age-twin decided to take it upon himself to distract the Kraang once lured back into the Prison Dimension they'd been locked away in, but at the cost of being sealed off with them. That was a loss Donnie wasn't prepared to suffer, and while perhaps impossibly their little brother managed to rip an opening between dimensions to rescue Leo, once he had the chance, there was nothing Donnie held back in striking the Kraang that had threatened his brother.

As a consistent overachiever who just wants to be acknowledged for his brilliance, Donnie is just as quick to distance himself from failures, forgoing any responsibility he may have had whenever something inevitably goes horribly wrong. He is very confident in his tech and overconfident in his intelligence and abilities overall, and gets very concerned when something isn't working correctly because that just isn't something that can be allowed to happen. At times his vicious overthink gets the better of him, cycling too much information and not enough output.

Since he and his family live in secret beneath the city streets of New York, the boy has had to make most of his tech from scratch, having quite the aptitude for it. He has every reason to be proud of his achievements and has engineered and created amazing things, as well as a lot of things that teenagers probably shouldn't be creating. Naturally he gets very attached to his technological creations and considering that most of the time he's had free rein over his projects (likely because no one else ever cares or understands what he's doing), he's never considered possible boundaries that should not be crossed, or whether or not his weapons are a bit overkill. Quite simply, no one's ever told him 'no.' Sometimes he'll genuinely wow his brothers, which really isn't too difficult to do but he relishes it all the same. What he'll never get enough of is praise, recognition for his accomplishments, and if it's from adults then all the better. For most of his life he's equated his usefulness by output, what he can bring to the table and offer his family. When mystic abilities came into the picture, Donnie felt threatened by its potential and upset that he couldn't make heads or tails of it. He's since learned that his family always appreciates him no matter what, and that magic and science can be stronger together, as he exhibits with his use of his mystic-tech.

Powers/Abilities:
Donnie is the brains and resident tinkerer of his family. He's a self-taught engineer and has created amazing gadgets and weaponry from scavenged (and potentially illicitly procured) parts to make his family's life easier (and occasionally more problematic). He's also excellent with computers and codework, and has managed to connect to police feeds and security cameras back home to help him and his bros be on top of any big crime happening in the city.

As the son of a martial artist Donnie has been heavily influenced by his father's career as have all his brothers, learning ninjutsu and favoring the techniques of the which matches his eye for precision and efficiency. Having been trained to be a ninja, his reflexes and agility are top-notch but not without limitations. Although while being a mutant he is considerably more durable and stronger than the average organic species, his vulnerability for his soft-shell has him rely on creating battle shells for added protection as well as advantages such as flight or additional appendages. But since he is a turtle, namely a spiny soft shell, he does relatively well in water and can stay under for longer periods than a human can.

Because of his family line, Donnie has manifested the ancient power of the Hamato, ninpō, specifically as a brand of Mystic-Tech. He can form any device or weapon he can conceive, sometimes to devastating proportions. These appear as glowing violet outlines of hardlight but still respond as solid material and energy as applicable. Usage ranges from extensions to his chosen melee weapon or materialization of armor, and along more extreme lines, even an entire arsenal. His only limitation really is his imagination. In this way he can also create a battle shell in lieu of his usual ones, which perhaps isn't too unlike being able to channel his power into a similarly styled object to create a staff, both appearing as one would expect of an actual physical object than the translucent lines of energy.

While not something powered directly by him, Donnie has in his possession a mystic crystal that he's installed in his goggles, allowing him to scan for magical auras, as well as cut through any type of magical illusions to see what's actually there. This is in addition to the normal capabilities of energy readings, binocular-functions, infrared and nightvision.

Game Plans: Well, he's not here to have a good time, that's for sure. I just thought it'd be interesting to see this poor boy deal with this type of setting, and I've missed a good spooky game with transformation elements. Also it doesn't hurt having a familiar Leo to bounce off of. ...although after this TDM stuff, Donnie sure wants to murder someone for keeping his brother from being saved in their timeline...

Monster Choice:
Volare/Harpy - Donnie does love to fly and has no problem with high places, a self-proclaimed adrenaline enthusiast! And then there's the belting out songs from musicals when he's not dancing to 80s jams. One might also say he has a keen eye for shiny things given his salvaging experience.

Infernal/Cerebus - Admittedly I just thought it might be cool. But looking into it, it'd be potentially fitting and a bit ironic considering his brother's position.

Elemental/Genasi - Element-based ideas are always fun in general. I'm amused by the emotionally-tied aspects of this, especially concerning Mr. Emotionally Unavailable here.

Vehicle Choice: his baby The Turtle Tank; Tough (I am going to assume most of the stuff he's installed on it will either be deactivated or just not there? ie. weapons, softserve machine, nitro engine, Shellhogs (motorcycles) -would the automated systems and his programming still function at least? If...probably with some added/overridden Haunted programming? (Mostly for autopilot which seems normal here anyway, and system status monitoring, etc.)

Sample: TDM Link here!
